Swimming Lessons At Last!

The boys just finished swimming lessons for the first time last week. Since we lived in Kanab for the past 6 years and since Kanab had issues with their pool, i.e. closed, building a new one any day now, etc., we weren't able to get the kids signed up for swimming lessons while we lived there. Apparently a lot of people were going to Fredonia, but I didn't know much about it and never heard when to sign up. Not that I really tried to do anything about it, though. So, feeling guilt ridden about the lack of swimming skills my boys had, especially my 7-year old, Scott, I decided to sign them right up this spring so they'd be at least a little better prepared for this summer's activities. They did great and had a lot of fun, even if they were in classes with kids much younger than they were. It was fun to watch their little personalities shine through. Scott couldn't sit still for a second. He was bobbing up and down and splashing and going under water every time the teacher wanted his attention, poor girl. Noah was the model student. He did everything the teacher asked and did it very well. He did do his fare share of splashing the teacher, though. Joshua decided to get a little mischievous towards the end there. If the teacher wanted him to do something he would climb out of the pool and walk along the deck like a gorilla, squat there for a minute, and flash his cheesy "I dare you to come and get me!" grin. Good times, good times.

Salmon Falls Trail

A few weeks ago I headed out on a new trail with my friend and biker pal, Mary. It was a lot of fun. Since Mary was training for her big mountain bike race we were actively looking for hills and challenging terrain. We found the mother of all hills. We climbed steadily for over an hour! Up and up and up and up, and then up some more. It was a great ride.
